Village Development Agency completes intensive solid waste disposal and construction of 1,09,054 individual toilets in 125 gram panchayats of the district.
Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Program has been started by the Ministry of Water Power, Government of India. Under this program, World Toilet Day is celebrated on 19th November. The “Swachh Bharat Puraskar” program was held to mark the occasion. In the field of sanitation, Vadodara district is working in a leading way in the rural areas and for this work it has been honored with “Swachh Bharat Puraskar”.
A total of 1,09,054 personal toilets and cleaning equipments constructed in Vadodara district were provided. Commendable work has been done in the field of solid waste management in 125 gram panchayats of the district during COVID-19. A Virtual Award Ceremony and a Sarpanch Dialogue Program were organized to promote sanitation in these districts.
Under the guidance of Vadodara District Development Officer Kiran B. Zaveri, commendable work was done in all the gram panchayats of all the talukas of the district on the basis of toilet construction work, solid waste management work, publicity work on hygiene, public awareness work under Covid-19.
Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Rattan Lal Kataria, Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation U.P. Singh, Arun Baroka, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources and senior officials of Government of India remain present at the virtual programme.
A Virtual Clean Award Ceremony and Sarpanch Dialogue was organized for outstanding hygiene performance was also organised. District Development Officer Kiran Zaveri and Director of District Rural Development Agency B. B. Chaudhary received the Virtual Award. Out of 20 districts of the country, Vadodara and Rajkot districts from Gujarat were awarded for their work in the field as stated by the Director of District Rural Development Agency, Vadodara.
