To promote cashless economy the Gujarat government organise special camp all across the state to open saving bank accounts for everyone whoever is left out. The idea is to aware public about cashless economy and for that financial literacy camps were also started to teach them about the different modes of banking. The camp will continue till 7th December and in the meantime to cover everyone in this drive.

Vadodara administration is also chalking out action plan for opening of accounts of unorganised sector people in city as well as rural areas. The administration starts to open the accounts in rural and city areas and also make them aware about the cashless transactions through financial literacy camps.

“The drive covers the regular like the Dudh Mandalis, APMC farmers, GIDC and private industrial labourers and rural areas specially in the camp. In rural area there is village wise camps through banks where they will open accounts and conduct financial literacy camps. In Vadodara city the camps are in Kadiya Naka, Sabjimandi and major slum areas for the exercise. However in government sector there is already written instructions sent to them to do all the payment directly into the account covering all departments be it regular, semi government, contractual and others,” said Lochan Sehra Collector Vadodara.

Apart from account opening the beneficiaries are also aware about the different modes of cashless transactions. “To promote the cashless economy and e payment modes we in cities with the help of Kirana associations, Industrial associations, vegetables market organise financial literacy camps. With the help of banks the camps will aware about different modes like swapping cards, e wallet and mobile banking and the people can choose the bank and payment mode as per their convenience,” said Sehra.

In Vadodara they are targeting 1,50,000 people but it may cross the figure as they are covering all the sectors. “We are covering all the sections like informal, farmers, labourers and all the leftouts. We also target the government beneficiaries who are left and make assure that everyone has bank account in their name,” said Sehra.

Sehra further said that Gujarat is taking a lead in this special campaign for promote cashless economy and assure that everyone has a saving bank account in their name. Further all the accounts will be linked up with their Aadhar Card to prevent duplication added Sehra.
