The continental congress declared the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of United States on July 4, 1776.

The thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America and after that they were not the part of British Empire. Even the revolutionary war continued till 1783, when the British recognized US to be independent.

Independence day of USA is known as the National Day of the United States. Independence day is a federal holiday, so the postal services and federal courts are closed on this day. Many Politicians make it a point on this day to appear at a public event to praise the nation’s heritage, laws, history and society of United states.

A salute of one gun for each state in the United States , called a “salute to the nation” , is fired on independence Day at noon by any capable military base.

Independence Day celebrated with the fireworks. In 2009, New York city had the largest fireworks display in the country.

The first week of July is one of the busiest American travel periods of the year, as many people using the holidays for vacation trips.
