To prevent the transmission of Coronavirus, all Hindu-Muslim festivals in the month of August, including Ganesh Mahotsav, have been banned by the government, stated by State Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja.

He , was present at the 71st Forest Festival program at Kandari, Karjan in Vadodara on Friday. He later visited Vadodara and further added that a notification in this regard will be issued soon.

Pradipsinh Jadeja further said that the only way to prevent the spread of Corona infection is social distancing. It was submitted by Ganesh Mandals, Padayatra Mandals, Muslim organizations from all over Gujarat submitted request to the government not to celebrate all the big and small festivals of the month of August including Ganeshotsav, Tajia in coming days.

At the same time, the state government felt that the transition to Corona would increase if people gathered at the festivals. Therefore, it has been decided to ban the celebration of Hindu-Muslim festivals in the month of August, including Ganeshotsav.

He further said that the mandals and families who want to install Ganapati should do so in their own house and also immerse at their place. No procession of any kind can be allowed which includes the Tazia processions. In addition, no public festivals can be celebrated with gathering of the mass. The announcement will be issued in the next few days.

Regarding the fire at Shreya Hospital in Ahmedabad, the state Home Minister said, “This incident is sad and the government has made arrangements for Corona patients in government hospitals. In addition, private hospitals have been studying all precautions to treat Covid patients.

State government has formed an inquiry committee to investigate. It is also being investigated by the police department and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty.

Earlier Pradipsinh Jadeja, who was present at the 71st Forest Festival program at Kandari in Karjan taluka said, the Forest Festival has made a great contribution in realising the commitment of Green Gujarat Clean Gujarat of the state government.

He inaugurated the 71st Mahotsav of Vadodara district by planting a medicinal plant of Borsali in Swaminarayan Gurukul premises at Kandari village in Karjan taluka. High officials were present on the occasion.

He also handover cheques from Gujarat Municipal Finance Board to Vadodara Municipal Corporation and municipalities of Dabhoi, Karjan, Padra and Savli.
