Unique ritual to see off the departed soul

People from passing through Amit nagar Karelibaug area was surprised to see a last procession of ritual a lady was taken out with Dhol, Nagadas and Shehnai. Not only that the fire crackers was also burst during the procession which surprised everyone as this is something unique.

The ritual is there with the Nayak samaj from Khakharia village near Jambhughoda where the dead person was cremated with such procession. Gamirsinh Nayak is working as a postman in Subhanpura post office and living with his wife Urmila and two children in the P&T colony near Amit nagar circle. His wife was not well for sometime and on Sunday night she died.

On Monday her last procession was taken out with Dhol Nagadas and Shehnai with crackers bursting on the way. Urmila Nayak was readied like a bride with jewellery and other things and also sprinkled Attar on her body. According to the Samaj as per the ritual the Akhand Saubhagyawati ladies are given the last farewell just like a young.

Moreover there is also a ritual to prepare special Khichdi for the dead person and here also the ladies feed Urmila with Khichdi at home and the males inside the crematorium. The last procession of Urmila Nayak with this unique rituals reached the Khaswadi Crematorium and she was laid to rest. Her husband said that it’s indeed very sad moment for his family but he followed the rituals.
