Rajkot is famous for its raas garba and everywhere the festival is at its peak. In the city 24 raas and 603 traditional ancient raas garbas are there in police dairies. But now we see a Garbi whixh is about seven decades old and still has its charm intact.

The oldest Garud Garbi in Rajkot is organised in Ramnath pura area where Garud was designed with the Saag wood and decorated with velvet cloth. It is said that the child who sit on Garud and worship Ambaji get less health complications for the whole year.

Organiser Kalpesh Gamraa said that during the royal era the place was considered to be outer area of Rajkot. King Lakhajiraj Maharaj laid foundation of Ambaji Mata temple and since then devotees started Garbi in Navratri.

He further said that a artist made Garud from the Saag wood and the same is used every year. Earlier the Garud was brought down with the help of ropes and now the organisers use machine. The Garud is about 160kg in weight and during Navratri about 300 children sit on it and worship Ambaji.
