    The South African Olympic and Paralymic athlete Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to six year jail on 6th July 2016 for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

    Pistorius has shot his girlfriend four times through a locked door in February 2013.

    Another sports person a football star who recently retired from the international football, Lionel Messi and his father have been sentenced to 21 months in prison for the case of tax fraud. The Spanish supreme court found them guilty for the three counts of tax fraud.

    The court ordered Messi to pay a fine of around $2.21 million and his father has to pay 1.5 million euros for the crime.

    According to a Spanish law of prison, victims sentenced under two years can be served under probation, means Messi and his father are unlikely to go to jail.
