Railway police dressed as locals kept a watch and arrest the accused from their homes

Vadodara railway police nabbed two accused from West Bengal in connection with the theft of an Angadiya firm employee's bag having jewellery worth 4.75 crore from a reserve coach of express train. The team seized 4.65 crore worth jewellery from their possession.

As per details given by Western Railway SP Parikshita Rathod, On April 8, an employee of the Angadiya firm was traveling from Mumbai to Ahmedabad in the Saurashtra Mail Express train. He fell asleep after the train reached Bharuch station. He woke up on arrival at Mahemdabad railway station and shocked to see his bag missing having gold jewellery inside. The case was registered at Nadiad Railway Police Station.

The railway police began investigation in the matter and formed separate teams to trace the accused. CCTV footage of all railway stations between Mumbai and Ahmedabad was examined along with the reservation chart as well as other sources. With the help of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police came to know that the accused were going to West Bengal after committing the crime.

One of the accused Bijen Montu Haldar is running food stall for last 20 years in the Bhuleshwar area of Mumbai known for Angadia firms. His friend Ashok Sarkar works as spot boy for the last 20 years in Mumbai. SP said, Bijen is known to everyone there and planned the loot.

After tracing the accused, the police team went to Canning in West Bengal and investigated. They dressed up as local residents to hide their identities and did Reiki by pedal rickshaw.

After identification the investigating team with the help of local police nabbed both the accused and recover 4.65 crore jewellery from them. Police is seeking their custody and further investigation is on in the matter.
