Jio enjoys highest revenue market share with 43.8%, followed by Vodafone Idea with 40%

Within three years of operations in Gujarat circle, Reliance Jio has become largest revenue generating telecom company. For first time, Jio’s Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) has crossed the mark of Rs650 crore in a quarter.

The AGR of the company stood at Rs685.54 crore, highest among all telecom companies during September 2019 quarter.

The regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) issued report of Financial Data pertaining to Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) of all the telecom service providers in for the quarter ending on September 2019, last week. The report reveals that the total AGR of all telecom companies in Gujarat has increased by 3.82%, thanks to Jio and BSNL, which posted a positive growth.

During the period, both the operators, Jio and BSNL posted double digit grow in AGR. During June 2019 quarter, the AGR of Jio was Rs617.65 crore, increased by 11% to 685.54 crore in quarter ending in September 2019. Similarly, BSNL’s AGR in June 2019 quarter was Rs70.97 crore which increased by 11% to Rs78.80 crore in September 2019 quarter.

Vodafone Idea Limited, which enjoys the largest customer market share in Gujarat lost the top most spot of revenue market share for the first time. The company witnessed fall of 2.7% in AGR from Rs643.53 crore in June 2019 quarter to Rs626.12 crore in September 2019 quarter.

Similarly, Bharti Airtel, which was once country’s largest telecom operator, witnessed flat growth in September 2019 quarter in Gujarat. The AGR of company was Rs173.20 crore in June 2019 quarter, which fell marginally to Rs172.84 crore in September 2019 quarter.

The total AGR of all telecom companies in Gujarat circle increased 3.82% from Rs1,529.87 crore in June 2019 quarter to Rs1,588.37 crore. Of the total AGR in September 2019, Jio’s share is largest with 43.8% followed by Vodafone Idea Limited with 40%, Bharti Airtel with 11% and BSNL with 5%.

The regulator, Trai had also shared the mobile subscription data of Gujarat recently, with total mobile subscription has increased to 6.87 crore users in Gujarat circle in September 2019.

During the month, Jio added 3.60 lakh users and BSNL posted growth of over 5,700 users in the circle. Vodafone Idea lost 2.71 lakh users, followed by loss of over 67,000 users by Bharti Airtel in Gujarat.
