Three patients being treated at Sayaji Hospital for mucormycosis, have defeated the deadly disease and happily went home. The daughter-in-law, who has been taking care of her mother in law thanked the doctors for saving her life from the disease. Although one of her mother in law eyes has been removed, but she is not losing heart and will be her second eye.

The fight is still on for corona and now a fungus called mucormycosis has caused an outcry. So far 5 more people have died from the deadly disease and more than 250 people are still being treated at Sayaji, Gotri and private hospitals in Vadodara. Many people have lost their eyes and many have recovered after treatment.

Three female patients from Vadodara, Bharuch and Ankleshwar were discharged from Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara on Monday. Rajni Wadekar, Nazma Patel and Darshana Patel left the hospital with a big smile after a long treatment of mucormycosis. With this other patients gets the encouragement and the discharged patients wish all a speedy recovery. Emotional scenes were there as three patients left the hospital ward.

Daughter-in-law of 57-year-old Rajni Wadekar said, after corona she was down with Mucormycosis and rushed to Sayaji hospital for treatment. Her treatment was going for the last one and half month and one of her eyes has also been removed. She request others to accept mucormycosis as their destiny and sitting at home is not going to cure the disease. If symptoms appear one should come to the hospital immediately.

She added that although one eye of her mother in law was removed, but survive the deadly disease is a big thing for them. She will be the second eye and take care of her.
Dr. Anand Palash who is treating patients down with mucormycosis at Sayaji Hospital said, contact a doctor immediately when symptoms appear and if treatment is started in time, there is no need to remove the patient's eye. Everyday more than 3 surgeries is being performed daily in the hospital and efforts is being done to save patients.
