Stole cash and goods
Taking advantage of the night curfew and cold, thieves striked at Bajwa-Koyli road late night on Thursday and broke the locks of 17 shops including two garment shops. They struck at Sagar Resi Cum Plaza and stole cash and goods. The thieves also stole cigarettes worth Rs 1 lakh from a Pan Corner.
The thieves struck late at night in a five-storey Sagar Resi cum Plaza complex on Bajwa-Koyli Road near Vadodara. The complex has a magnificent showroom of Rajwada readymade garments with 7 shops, a show room of readymade garments called Fashion Point with 5 shops, project hardware, Gurukrupa Pan Corner besides shops selling various items including electronics, electrical and others.
Taking advantage of the night curfew and cold, the accused targeted the complex’s shops at 1 am and in a hour broke into 17 shops located in the complex. They decamp with cash as well as goods from the shops and also cigarettes worth Rs 1 lakh stolen from Gurukrupa Pan Corner.
Owners who came to open the shops in the morning were shocked to learn about the thieves striked at the complex. Crowd gathered as word of theft taken place in the Sagar complex. When the incident was reported to Jawahar Nagar police, police jawan Pravinbhai rushed to the spot.
In the preliminary investigation by the police the CCTV footage showed the thieves were wearing monkey hats and hand gloves. Traders and locals also questioned the night patrolling of the police team in the area.
Jawaharnagar police has registered a case based on the complaints of traders and launched an investigation with the help of Dog squad and fingerprint experts.
