Xiaomi has unveiled a new battery technology which promises to increase the battery backup on its smartphones by about 100 minutes. The Chinese smartphone maker took to Weibo to reveal about the new technology. The company posted that its R&D team has been working on this technology and it could be used on its smartphones starting next year.
Xiaomi claims that this new technology will help the smartphone maker in increasing the silicon content inside the battery about three times and will also ensure an efficient capacity storage. This new technology by Xiaomi will increase the battery by 10 percent mAh without increasing the size of this pack. This additional 10 percent mAh will offer 100 minutes of additional runtime on a single charge.
The post also suggests that it has revamped the packaging technology and the company has also angled the PCM (protection circuit module) at 90-degrees instead of the flat position. This rearrangement will help in saving more space.
The company also adds that this technology also comes equipped with a fuel gauge chip that rely on advanced algorithms and will help in improving the safety and lifespan of the cells and will also keep a check on overnight charging. The technology will also prevent overcharging and will also reduce its harmful effects. Along with all this, the battery pack will also come with some additional sensors which will help in controlling the temperature and will make sure that the battery does not heat up.
Xiaomi said that it will first mass-produce the batteries in the second half of next year.
