WhatsApp to stop iOS users from taking screenshots of profile photos

This year on March, it was announced that WhatsApp is taking action to stop Android users from taking screenshots of profile pictures of other users.

The instant messaging platform, which has been focusing on users' privacy recently, had reportedly been working on the feature since February.

Now, the same feature is reportedly in the works for iOS users as well.

As per a WA Beta Info report, which is a reliable tracker relating to updates about WhatsApp, the Meta-owned app will soon prohibit iOS users from taking screenshots of other users' profile photos as well.

As per the WA Beta Info report, the latest update from WhatsApp's beta program for iOS, version 24.10.10.70 available via TestFlight shows that new security measures are being tested for the app.

This upcoming update will prevent iOS users from taking screenshots of profile photos, a feature already implemented for Android users.

The intent is to enhance privacy protection across the platform. A screenshot shared by WA Beta Info revealed what the feature could be like when it launches.

A notification informing users of the restriction might pop up when iOS users try to take a screenshot of a profile photo.

The notification will saythat taking screenshots of profile photos has been disabled to safeguard user privacy.

Recently, WhatsApp also changed its theme for iOS users to a greener interface. iOS users in India started receiving WhatsApp's new update last month, in which the interface was green-themed instead of the usual blue.

While on Android devices, WhatsApp has always had a green interface, the colour used to be a vibrant blue in iPhones. Everything went through a design change from the status bar to the chat-list window.

As mentioned already, the change began rolling out to users earlier this year but reached more people recently.

In addition to the icons, even the links that are shared within the app have a green colour to them instead of the usual blue.
