WhatsApp released a new calling interface for a limited number of Android users

WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new interface designed largely for voice calls. Since December 2021, the messaging app has apparently been working on a new interface. The user interface was previously created for both the iOS and Android apps. WhatsApp, on the other hand, has now released a revamped calling experience for Android beta users. The upgrade was only provided to a select group of beta testers. The remaining testers will be allowed to access it in the coming days.

According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is not just overhauling the caller interface for solo conversations, but group calls will also be getting a new look shortly. When you make a group voice call, bring voice waveforms for all participants during the call, as seen in the screenshots. The new upgrade is being sent out to Android beta testers today, according to Wabetainfor, with more activations expected in the following weeks. The new UI has yet to be seen on the iOS beta app, but according to the features tracker, WhatsApp may receive it in a future release.

The functionality to improve the interface for audio calls is already enabled in this beta, according to the source, and the ability to use wallpaper for voice calls is also included in this beta update. Users, on the other hand, will not have the chance to customise right now.

The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.5.4 has been identified as a suitable upgrade, according to Wabetainfo, however some users may be able to use the same feature with the 2.22.5.3 version as well. If you want to try out the new feature, you'll need to first sign up for the Google Play Beta programme. From there, you'll be able to access the WhatsApp Beta. The Beta software is also available as an APK on APKMirror. However, it is not recommended that you install the WhatsApp beta version on your primary mobile; you may always buy a second device for beta testing.
