On Sunday, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCIUnified )'s Payments Interface (UPI), an instant payment system, was unavailable for more than an hour.
Netizens flocked to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the situation. They claimed that Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe, all of which use UPI to allow users to transmit money to other bank accounts immediately, were not operating.
In a tweet, the NPCI recognised the technical issue and stated that UPI is back operating. It also stated that the system is being closely monitored.
