The all-new Mahindra & Mahindra XUV700 premium SUV has officially begun deliveries. Paralympian Sumit Antil received the keys to the Javelin Gold Edition XUV700 from the local carmaker. In the F64 Men's Javelin Throw category, the participant brought home a gold medal for India. Pratap Bose, EVP and Chief Design Officer at Mahindra & Mahindra, developed the custom-made XUV700. He received his Midnight Black XUV700 with Gold highlights inside and exterior, which he had customised.
Last month, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said that the company will gift Neeraj Chopra, Avani Lekhara, and Sumit Antil with special edition Mahindra XUV700 SUVs in recognition of their historic wins at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, respectively.
Gold inserts have replaced chrome features on the outside of the XUV700, including the new Mahindra logo, which is now Satin Gold plated. Sumit Antil's world record of '68.55' (metre) has also been engraved as a badge on the fender and tailgate. All six headrests and the front console are likewise embroidered with the same design. In addition, the custom-made Mahindra XUV700's seats and IP panel have been accented with beautiful gold thread.
The company had stated that delivery of petrol models will begin on October 30, while deliveries of diesel versions will begin in the last week of November 2021. By January 14, 2022, Mahindra expects to have delivered over 14,000 units of the XUV700. Over 65,000 reservations for the SUV have already been made, according to the company.
The new flagship SUV from the homegrown carmaker is the XUV700. The XUV700 is priced from Rs. 12.49 lakh to Rs. 22.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). A 2.0-litre GDI turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine are available for the SUV. Both have a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic torque converter unit as an option.
