Auto Skoda Volkswagen India has verified that the Volkswagen T-Cross is now being exported from the nation. From Mumbai, the export units will be shipped to Mexico.

According to a statement from Volkswagen, the T-Cross is the first of a series of vehicles based on the MQB-A0-IN platform that will be exported from India. The first batch of 1,232 Volkswagen T-Cross vehicles is on its way.

"The export of the Volkswagen T-Cross is a momentous event in the Group's endeavor to engineer cars in India to be driven by the world! Developing India as an export hub for the VW Group globally is an integral part of our India strategy," Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) Chairman Christian Cahn von Seelen noted.

He went on to say that the automobiles made at the company's facilities in India meet the same high quality requirements as the rest of the world. "The Volkswagen T-Cross built for the world on the MQB A0-IN platform exemplifies the excellence we pursue in all aspects of production, from technology and quality to design and performance," Seelen said.

He noted that the adaptable MQB-A0-IN platform will be critical in growing the company's worldwide export presence, in addition to scripting growth in the domestic market. "With this export milestone, we further strengthen our commitment to offering next-generation vehicles to and from India," Seelen stated.

SAVWIPL began its export programme in 2011 with 6,256 Volkswagen Ventos made in India for the South African market. Since then, the company's export market has gradually expanded, resulting in a Made in India presence in 61 nations across South America, Central America, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Caribbean area.

Until December 2021, the Group has exported a total of 5,45,653 vehicles. SAVWIPL's main export markets include Mexico, South Africa, Central American countries (Columbia, Ecuador, Argentina), and ASEAN countries.
