New Update

Samsung plans to give its Bixby AI assistant a Gen AI makeover. A top Samsung executive, revealed that the company is “working so hard” to integrate generative AI into Bixby.

Samsung originally introduced Bixby back in 2017 with the launch of the Galaxy S8 series of smartphones, and over the years, the company has expanded the availability of Bixby across its portfolio, including smart TVs, accessories, and smart home appliances.

With the increase in popularity among various generative AI chatbots such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Microsoft’s Copilot, Samsung too wants to update Bixby and make it comparable to the latest AI-powered chatbots.

The spokesperson has not revealed any timeline for the launch of AI-powered Bixby, considering the current development, the new version of Bixby is most likely to arrive by the end of 2024 or by early 2025, with the launch of OneUI 7 based on Android 15 OS.

The information comes a few months ahead of Apple’s annual developer conference (WWDC 2024) on June 10, where the company will announce iOS 18, which is expected to be filled with a lot of AI features, including generative AI-powered Siri.
