Rey Mysterio is the cover star for WWE 2K22, to release on March 11th
WWE 2K22 adds a new 2K Showcase centred on Rey Mysterio's career, as well as a variety of additional features
Rey Mysterio, a 20-year veteran of the WWE, will grace the cover of 2K Games' latest instalment in the annual wrestling franchise, 'WWE 2K22.' The game will be released on current and next-generation consoles, as well as Windows PC, on March 11, 2022.
The reappearance of the 2K Showcase is implied by the addition of the masked Superstar. Through interactive cutscenes, quick-time events, and the surrounding storey mode, players may relive historic moments from Rey Mysterio's career and bouts.
"Representing the culture of Lucha Libre, the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me," said Rey Mysterio. "I'm looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2KShowcase."
WWE 2K22 returns after a year-long absence, following the cancellation of WWE 2K21 in the middle of development due to poor graphics, repetitive gameplay, and numerous technical concerns. The firm made a minor detour with WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a cartoon take on the entertainment sport, and has now added some additional elements.
The My GM mode, which is effectively a manager mode for WWE 2K22, is the most recent addition to the franchise. To keep the in-game audience entertained, players can recruit wrestlers, organise matches, manage contracts, and develop new storylines. The popular game mode last appeared in THQ's Smackdown vs Raw 2008, with a slightly revised version returning in WWE 2K14.
There's also a MyFACTION mode, which allows you to establish alliances/teams with other wrestlers and compete in weekly tournaments to improve your stats. Cosmetic items are also available for purchase, albeit they are only available for offline play. MyRISE mode is essentially a career mode for unique characters, allowing them to progress from novice to full-fledged WWE Superstar.
2K Games also boasts of its "amazing visuals," which include sweat, dynamic camera angles, wrinkles, and overall lighting effects, among other things. The gaming engine has also been completely rebuilt, with modern and intuitive controls.
