Addressing the nation from New Delhi’s Red Fort on India’s 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the country is prepping to enter the 6G era soon. The PM further highlighted that India, besides becoming the world’s third-largest economy, provides some of the most affordable mobile data plans and internet services globally.

Talking about 6G, PM Modi said that the task force is already in place and India is working towards making a quick shift from 5G to 6G. “We have formed a 6G task force,” he said during his Independence speech at the Red Fort.

PM Modi further highlighted that the country has achieved the fastest nationwide rollout of 5G. Recently, Reliance Jio announced that it has successfully introduced 5G mobile services to all 22 regions across India, which is far ahead of schedule.

Now, this simply means: Jio has successfully established the essential framework for high speed wireless internet nationwide by using diverse radio frequencies. The company claimed that it has harnessed a mix of several spectrum bands, akin to multiple data highways, to deliver 5G services to the masses.

On July 19, Reliance Jio finalized the required documentation for the Phase 1 minimum deployment requirements with the Department of Telecommunications. And by August 11 2023, all mandatory DoT tests were concluded in every circle, the company revealed.

Following Jio is Bharti Airtel which is working towards taking its 5G services across all parts of the country.
