Zoom, a video conferencing tool, has announced that the commercial version of their programme will now include live closed captioning for all of its free users.

For paid Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars customers, this service, which allows automatic captioning during a Zoom video conversation, is also accessible.

"It is important to us that everyone can successfully connect, communicate, and participate using Zoom. Without the proper accessibility tools, people with disabilities face tremendous barriers when using video communication solutions. That is why we are focused on building out a platform that is accessible to everyone," stated the company.

Currently, auto-generated captions are accessible in English, with plans to expand to other languages in the future.

How does the new feature of Zoom's live captioning work?

To enable closed captioning, simply go into the Zoom web portal, go to the Settings option, and then select the Meeting tab. To enable or disable closed captioning, go to In Meeting (Advanced) and select the Closed captioning option.

Apart from that, the company has announced a few other important updates, including the addition of a whiteboard feature.

The upgraded Zoom Whiteboard, which will be available later this year, will allow for seamless, asynchronous collaboration across a wide range of devices, as well as a more engaging and efficient meeting experience.

Users will be able to interact with a virtual whiteboard in the same way that they would with a physical whiteboard.
