The JioPhone Next, a smartphone co-developed by Reliance Jio and global internet major Google, would be powered by a new operating system named Pragati OS. Pragati OS is an Android-based operating system designed exclusively for India.
The smartphone is set to be released next week, just in time for Diwali. It was supposed to be released earlier this year, but it was postponed owing to a global chipset shortage.
Through a partnership with Neolync Solutions Private Limited, the affordable smartphone is being built at sites in Tirupati and Sriperumbudur. Neolync has previously received a Reliance investment of 20 crore.
