iPhone 16 series production starts next month

The iPhone 16 series will likely launch in September 2024, which is still months away but it seems that Apple has started preparation for it.

Reliable display analyst Ross Young has reported on X (previously known as Twitter) that the iPhone 16 series is all set to go under production phase in June, basically next month.

In a subscriber-only tweet, the cited source claimed that the regular iPhone 16 models could be produced more than the higher-end variants.

The rest of the details are unknown, but June seems too early because the production for the iPhone 15 series started in August last year, if reports are to be believed.

The mass production usually begins in July every year.

As of now, we don't know whether Apple will be making its 2024 iPhones in India or not.

Though, the previous devices such as the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 are made in India. Unfortunately, this hasn't led to a reduction in the price of its iPhones by a certain margin to woo Indian buyers.

In fact, Apple may decide to increase the price of its regular iPhone 16 and Plus models because the company has been offering 3 generations of devices at the same old prices.

Last year, only the iPhone 15 Pro received a price increase of around Rs 5,000 and Pro Max's price raised by Rs 20,000, making the Pro models even more costly.

To recall, the price for the iPhone 15 Pro model starts from Rs 1,34,900 and the Pro Max costs Rs 1,59,900.

The iPhone 15 is priced at Rs 79,900 in India for the 128GB storage model and the Plus model went on sale at Rs 89,900.

Comparatively, the iPhone 14 Pro was launched in 2022 at Rs 1,29,900, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro Max was made available for Rs 1,39,900.

As mentioned above, the iPhone 14 Plus and standard models cost the same as the iPhone 15 variants.

This year, Apple isn't expected to raise the prices of the iPhone 16 Pro models by a very big margin because it is already selling its 2023 Pro variants at exorbitant prices.

However, there are chances that the upcoming iPhone 16 series could get more expensive than its predecessors because a recent Nikkei Asia report highlighted that the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs Apple $558 to produce (due to high component costs), marking a 12 percent increase over the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Similar cost hikes are expected for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, particularly due to more expensive camera components.
