Google on Thursday hosted its first-ever Research@ event in Bengaluru, bringing together leading AI practitioners and researchers to discuss local solutions and act as a platform for collaborative interaction.

Dean added that he helped encourage Google’s 1,000 language effort, which is aimed at making AI models available in all major languages.

This is crucial, according to him, because many languages spoken by millions of people around the world lackj extensive written materials.

These languages could be made available using AI technologies to identify its potential.

He also spoke about the rapid evolution of AI, adding that it is really important to be aware of the “rough edges and potential pitfalls” that come from the scaling of machine learning models. While there is a lot of progress on the factual accuracy of the models compared toa year or two agi, it is still important to actively mitigate the technology’s shortcomings.
