New Update

Fitbit's Versa 3 and Sense smartwatches are getting a new update. It's a modest Fitbit OS 5.3 update that adds a bunch of new status indications as well as a few outside activities. This follows a big update in June that included audible Google Assistant responses, easier access to SpO2 data, heart rate notifications, and other features.

The Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense are now picking up status signs for do not disturb (DND), sleep mode, low battery, and disconnected status, according to the official release notes. The indicator icons show at the top of the screen to let you know if your smartphone is in sleep mode or has DND switched on. This will ensure that you do not miss any notifications by mistake.

Similarly, a bright red battery icon will indicate that your smartwatch is low on power, prompting you to charge it. Finally, a struck-through phone icon indicates that the phone is disconnected. When your Fitbit Versa 3 or Fitbit Sense loses connectivity to your smartphone, this message will show.

It's important to note that these status indicators are really not permanent. When the screen turns on, they will appear for three seconds. You can see the icons at the top of quick settings by swiping right. Under Display >> Status indicators in the Fitbit app, you may also permanently disable the status indicators.

Aside from the new status indications, the two Fitbit trackers will be able to track a few new outdoor activities such as kayaking, skiing, and more. To access these activities, use the Exercise app's outdoor exercise mode.
