Carl Pei: Nothing Phone (2) to be powered by snapdragon 8 Series Chipset

Back in February, Nothing confirmed that a Snapdragon 8 series chip would power the Phone (2), but it didn't reveal if it was an existing chip or one that would be launched in the future.

A Qualcomm exec in a social media post said it would be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, but the post was later edited to remove the mention of that chip.

However, we've now got final confirmation that the Nothing Phone (2) will have the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 at the helm after all.

The confirmation comes from Nothing founder Carl Pei on Twitter, where he also revealed the reasons behind choosing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC for the Phone (2).

Pei also said that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was chosen because "it’s best-in-class when it comes to power consumption and heat management”.

Other than the chipset, Nothing hasn't confirmed any other specs or features of the Phone (2) yet, but with Carl Pei at the helm, you can count on the young brand to start drip-feeding us with information about the phone as we inch closer to its launch.
