Apple’s Siri could soon get ChatGPT-like capability with natural language generation
New Update

Apple has reportedly increased its AI efforts. It is now testing new natural language generation features for Siri.

The language, codenamed “Bobcat,” is being tested starting with the latest tvOS 16.4 beta. And once Apple is done with the testing phase, its voice assistant might soon get improved capabilities.

The thing is, Google and Microsoft have started including more and more intelligence technology in their product offerings.

Well, thanks to OpenAI, everyone is getting into natural language generation models. And it seems that Apple did not want to be left behind, which is why it is currently focusing on Siri.

More About Language Generating Features of Siri

In the latest tvOS 16.4 beta, Apple has introduced a new framework. It goes by “Siri Natural Language Generation.”

From the name, we get a hint that Apple will enhance the capabilities of the voice assistant. At this point, the framework only enables the voice assistant to tell jokes on Apple TV.

But Apple is currently working on ways to make the language generation be used for timers too. Now, tvOS does not only power Apple TV.

It is also present in HomePod. But the new language-generating features of Siri are only available on Apple TV.

However, according to 9to5Mac, the code of these features is included across other products. That includes iPad, iPhone, Mac, and of course, HomePod. It’s just the fact that Apple did not enable the new Siri features on any other products than Apple TV.
