Swiss specialty chemicals company Achroma has introduced its Avitera SE technology, which is now available to fashion brands and textile mills.
The company has unveiled Avitera SE Generation Next, designed to enable more cost-effective and sustainable dyeing of cellulosic fibers and blends.
The extended Avitera SE Generation Next range offers an improved cost-to-performance ratio for new dark and extra-dark shades, allowing mills to create end products that meet the sustainability requirements of leading brands and retailers.
This range also helps increase yield, enhance productivity, and reduce processing costs.
Dhirendra Gautam, Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Archroma Textile Effects, emphasised that their new technology not only upholds sustainability but also ensures financial viability.
Traditionally, dyeing darker shades has been more challenging and costly due to the need for higher dye concentration, increased water and energy usage, and additional steps or re-dyeing to achieve uniform colour.
Darker shades also tend to fade more quickly than light-coloured fabrics, especially when exposed to sunlight and repeated home laundering.
The AVITERA SE Generation Next technology offers high-speed low-temperature wash-off, process reliability, and reproducibility, allowing mills to achieve water and energy savings of up to 50 per cent and reduce CO2 emissions and effluent discharge by up to 50 per cent.
It can also increase mill output by up to 25 per cent or more. The dyes are free from arylamines, including PCA, and offer fastness properties, retaining vibrant colors through repeated home laundering and exposure to light, perspiration, and chlorine.
Achroma’s technology is currently being used in the sustainable dyeing of various fabrics, including bed sheets, outdoor textiles, nonwovens, fashion and formal wear, and denim.
