Son of a tea stall owner in Vadodara is eyeing olympic dreams after Karate is declared as the part of 2020 olympics in Tokyo. Siddharth Bhalegare is a state champion in Karate and now heading to Goa for National Championship later in this month where he get a chance to represent the country in Commonwealth, South Asian and Asian games.

Coming from a family where his father is the only earning member Siddharth lived his dream to be a karate player after his grand father insist him. “I am learning Karate when I was four years old when my grandfather Ramchandra Bhalegare insist me. Since then it’s a long journey for me as I continue to play in tournaments and now have the chance to represent the country at international level and then in Olympics,” said Siddharth.eyeingA Black belt in Karate Siddharth took part in the state level tournaments, and become state champion. The recent Championship he won was the first Mayor Cup. Now he is eyeing the top competition and wants to make his city and country proud. He plays in 75 to 84 category.

“I am heading to Goa on 25, 26 February where I will play in the National Karate Championship. There I have the chance to win the tournament and represent my country in Commonwealth, South Asian and Asian tournaments. Recently it is declared that Karate will be introduced as a game in the Olympics for the first time and now it’s a golden opportunity for players like me to live our dreams,” said Siddharth.

However the road to success is not easy for Siddharth as he done odd jobs to bear his expenses and his parents also left the luxuries in life to support him. “The biggest strength is my family who always stands with me and support me. My parents left all the luxuries in life to save money and support me. I am also doing odd jobs as helper in medical stores, sports shops and salesman to bear my expenses,. My seniors and friends also support me financially to play in tournaments” said Siddharth.

Siddharth complete his graduation in Commerce, Diploma in Management is Sports, Management in Health and fitness from MSU Baroda and Bachelor’s in Physical Education from Anand. His younger brother also is a Kabaddi player and going to Goa for the Pro Kabaddi trials.
