Suril Shah from Google Research, USA visited CHARUSAT

U & P U. Patel Department of Computer Engineering, CSPIT, CHARUSAT invited Suril Shah, Google Research, USA. He has done his BS(2013) and MS(2014) in Computer Science with specialization in Artificial Intelligence. While a student at Stanford, Suril worked with multiple companies in Silicon Valley.

Suril (25), originally hails from Ahmedabad, started programming at age of 9 and was acclaimed as the world’s youngest Sun Certified Java Programmer, Oracle Certified Professional in Database. Even during high school, Suril put his skills to good use working as a consultant to local Ahmedabad companies and various firms implementing SAP ERP solutions.

Currently he is serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Google Research in the Machine Perception group.

On 23rd December 2017, at U & P U. Patel Department of Computer Engineering, Prof. Ashwin Makwana welcomed Suril shah. He took two interactive sessions, one with Students and another with Faculty members and Research Scholars.

He shared his experience and work culture at Google. He discussed about various projects, he has done at Stanford University. Based on his experiences, he gave ways to be successful in life and to achieve desired goals.

He said “We learn from Failures and not from Success”. He advised students that failure must be celebrated as a step towards eventual Success. He talked on ways to enhance technical skills and also advised research scholars to choose the research topics that solve the current issues and do a lot of literature survey considering original papers of reputed journals. Students got great exposure on Industry level knowledge and learning skills.

He met Dr. B.G. Patel, Provost (CHARUSAT), Dr. Devang Joshi, Registrar (CHARUSAT) and Dr. Amit Ganatra, Dean of Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) to discuss about encouraging Indian students to represent India on Global Platform.

He had discussions with Dr. Amit Ganatra regarding syllabus, current technologies and infrastructure of University. He visited the entire campus and was very much impressed by the infrastructure of CHARUSAT.

He admired that the university possess laboratories on all the latest technologies like Virtual Reality lab, Mobile Application Development lab, Data Analytics Lab, Information Security Lab, IoT Lab and Research Lab. He also added that CHARUSAT is one of those few Universities in Gujarat that provides excellent infrastructure and resources facilitates to students. He said that “CHARUSAT poised for great Success”.
