Amid fear of
corona outbreak and state lockdown, 4 students – Vatsal Agrawal M.S.W. and S/o Santosh Agrawal , CRS PRTN
INDIAN RAILWAYS, with his group Ashish Mishra, Kinjal Agrawal, Sidhant Pandey
and Bhavin Chavda from Vadodara decided to arrange an online funding campaign.
Their target was to arrange funds for providing necessary ration for a week to
daily wage labourers who are affected the most out of the Lockdown.
Each family was provided with 5 kg of Wheat flour and 3 Kgs of Rice and 1 kg dal, so that they can cook for themselves. The idea emerged as a philanthropic value by Vatsal Agrawal and his friend Ashish Mishra when they observed the adverse effects of Lockdown on the downtrodden. They decided to use the Lockdown judiciously to start an online campaign and successfully raised enough funds to provide grains to these families which would sustain till a week.
The students
being of Social Work background kept complete Precautionary measures for
themselves wearing Masks and Gloves. They distribute the items keeping the
principles of Social Distancing in Mind.
They provide
rations to 60 families at Samta temporary settlement, 15 families at Undera
lake temporary settlements, 10 families of Migrant workers moving back to
Jhalod, 150 kms from Baroda on foot at Genda Circle and another six families
were also helped by the students at Dasha maa Temporary settlements, Gorwa.
They also
help the stray animals where they feed Pedigree and Rice Khichdi for Around 50
stray dogs in Gorwa and feeding Vegetable and flour left over for Around 12
stray cows in Gorwa.
