Special teams to caught pick poketeers during the yatra
Vadodara turns into a fortress ahead of Lord Jagannath Rathyatra scheduled on 4th July Thursday. The 6km route of the yatra is covered with CCTV cameras continously monitored by the teams and all the highrise and deep points are covered by the police to help pass the yatra peacefully. A special team is also formed for keeping a watch on the pick poketeers usually active between the crowd.
Vadodara police commissioner said they already completed the Mohalla and peace meetings before the yatra and received good response from them. Joint CP, 6 DCP, 12 ACP, 40 Police Inspectors, 142 PSI, 3100 police jawans, 600 homeguards, one company each of RAF and CRPF, five companies of SRP which makes it total of seven paramilitary teams will keep watch on the security arrangements through out the route.
He further added that 40 highrise and around 100 deep points are covered by the police. 50 CCTV cameras along the route will help the police to keep watch on the proceedings. 25 videographers will be deputed at different points and shooting the yatra. Five special Quick Reaction Teams will be keeping a watch at identified special points and mounted police will be patrolling all through the route before the yatra to ensure any suspicious activities not happen before the Rathyatra.
To keep the route clean and free from cattles the police team get the support of corporation teams who will work with them. The electricity team will ensure the power supply will be intact all through the route and during Rathyatra.
This time 100 policemen in simple dress along with 25 women police will keep a watch on the pick poketeers active during this time of the year. Every year the incidents of pick pocketing came to light as they involve in the crowd and complete their targets. The police also keeping a watch on the activities of history sheeters and will take action in case its necessary.
