17 passengers saved by Police

Heavy rains in Bharuch district puts the normal life out of gear and with heavy inflow of water, rivers too are flowing aggressively. Meanwhile an ST bus got stuck in river between Zaghadia and Rajpardi with 17 passengers in morning. However, police reached the spot and saved the lives of all passengers stuck inside the bus.

As per the details, heavy rains lashed the whole Bharuch district resulting in water logging on main roads and low lying areas.

The under repair stretch from Ankleshwar towards Rajpipla is worst affected and vehicular traffic too held standstill for a while. Meanwhile, ST bus was stuck in between Rajpardi Zaghadia with 17 passengers on board and their lives in danger including the driver and conductor.

A passenger called police constable of Rajpardi police station and he informed PSI P. C. Sarvaiya about the whole situation. Police then informed the Mamlatdar and SDM asking for life jackets, rescue team and a head for the spot. While reaching to the spot to rescue all passengers, the police van broke down midway but they reached the spot by walking about a kilometer towards the spot.

P.S.I P.C. Sarvaiya climbed on an electric pole to search for the people and then contacted the person who informed them about their location as sitting on roof of the bus. With no help from the administration the police team dared and entered the water to reach out to the bus and rescued all the passengers. SP Sandip Singh also appreciated the efforts of the police team and declared an award for them.

In a talk with Connect Gujarat he said the PSI P.C. Sarvaiyaof Rajpardi and three constables did a commendable job and that shows the alertness and quick thinking ability of the team to save the lives of passengers. The act is highly appreciable and will approach it to the top level.
