No film rooted in Gujarat can be complete without having either of them. A majority of the writers were gujjus and we decided to incorporate a special song which also takes the story forward.”
The filmmaker adds that a special manja (thread) was called in from Surat, “SRK’s character in the film loves to fly kites and is an expert at cutting other people’s kites. There is a dialogue in the film where Shah Rukh says, ‘Agar Katne k darr hota na, toh patang nahi chadhata, firki pakadta.’ To give the authenticity to the character we decided to use Surti manjha which is razor sharp. A couple of times during the shoot he actually cut his fingers,” he says.
