On World Disabled day eight youths from Vadodara displayed a modified motorcycle specially designed for the disabled people. The bike is displayed inside the VCCI Global Trade Show and quite a eye catcher for the visitors.
The youths from different backgrounds like B.E., Sketch artist, Mechanical, software testing, Gas welder were part of the project to design the bike from the old spare parts. The bike is specially designed for the Divyangs and the youths give it a sporty look like the bikes available in the market.
Team leader Ayaaz Sheikh who completed his B.E. said that after completing his education he always want to do anything new rather then doing job and hence start planning the idea. He thought to design a bike for the disabled which they can afford easily and fulfill their dream of having a bike and drive by their own.
“The Divyangs not afford the bikes available in the market and they always dream to have one. So we decide to modify the old bike and make them easily driven for the Divyangs. With an investment of 10 to 20,000 they can get this bike which has a three rear wheels and a hand operated gear like the one came in old vintage cars,” said Sheikh.
Sheikh said that six months earlier he thought about the idea and talked to his friend and sketch artist Shoaib Sheikh. The sketch artist accepted the idea and they begin working on the modified bike for Divyangs.
“In our team Ilyas Sheikh is doing the mechanical side, Riyaz Patel is doing software testing, Jilani Sheikh bike mechanic, Mukund Kahar is doing the welding work and Shabbir Sheikh is collecting the old spare parts,” said Sheikh.
The bike is on display inside the VCCI Global Trade Show and quite a crowd puller specially the youth.
