The street lights to flood lights is an initiative of the Baroda Cricket Association supported by the Aditya Birla Capital Group to provide opportunity to talented kids from the erstwhile state of Baroda (rural).
The initiative embarks on creating a structure for a roadmap for talented young cricketers from small towns of the state of Baroda to move out from street lights to flood lights through a process of training and exposure. The initial screening, starting from the month of November 2021, will be initiated by former Baroda stalwarts in the discipline of Fast Bowling, Spin, Batting and Wicket keeping through a selection process in the areas of Mehsana, Patan, Navsari and Billimora, said the BCA release.
The focus will be on quality and the numbers will be restricted to 25 across all towns between the age group of 16-21 years. These talented kids will then be provided with skill training, match exposure, specialized training camps, dietary advice and media training.
The release further states, Growing up to the Game - is the objective of this movement and through this initiative the talented boys and girls can make a life for themselves as sportsman and human being.
The exposure will push players to step outside their comfort zone through various methods. The most talented kids will be adopted by the brand as their discoveries. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of players and their game, ultimately resulting into raising the standard of cricket.
