In cricket, India’s Test captain, Rohit Sharma, will miss the opening match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia which set to begin on November 22 in Perth.

In his absence, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team. Bumrah previously captained India in a Test during the 2021-22 tour of England, when Sharma missed the fifth Test due to a Covid-19 infection.

Additionally, India will also be without opener Shubman Gill for the first Test, as he has been ruled out with a thumb injury sustained during a fielding drill in the team’s match simulation training. KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are the two front-runners to fill in the positions of Gill and Sharma.
