In Badminton, Kidambi Srikanth today beat Netherlands' Mark Caljouw 21-8, 21-7 in Men's Singles Quarterfinal to reach the semi-finals of BWF World Championships in Huelva, Spain. With this victory, Srikanth is assured of a medal at the tournament.
However, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu lost to the top seed and world number one Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in Women's Singles Quarterfinal. Tai Tzu defeated Sindhu 21-17, 21-13 to enter the Semifinals.
In other fixtures today, HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen will also play their Quarterfinal matches today.
HS Prannoy will lock horns with Loh Kean Yew of Singapore while Lakshya Sen will face Zhao Jun Peng of China.
Indian challenge in the doubles category ended yesterday with Women's doubles duo Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy and Men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty losing their respective pre-quarterfinal matches.
