Beach Games start at Ghoghala Beach in Union Territory of Diu

More than 1,200 players from across 20 states and union territories of the country will participate in the first-of-its-kind multi-sports beach games in Diu beginning today. 

Players will compete in eight sports on the picturesque Ghoghla beach in Diu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a message in a video to all participants of the Multi Sports Beach Games and Union Youth and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur will be the chief guest. 

Anurag Singh Thakur will attend the ‘My Bharat’ program at Malala Auditorium Diu today. He will then discuss with Praful Patel, the administrator of Union Territories Diu, Daman and Nagar Haveli. 

A total of 8 different sports are included in the Diu Beach Games, including beach volleyball, pencak silat, beach boxing, beach soccer, and sea-swimming along with traditional sports such as malakhambah, beach kabaddi, and tug of war, more than 20 in the beach games.

Players from States and Union Territories will participate.

As its subject theme is Dolphins, the picture of Dolphin has also been placed in various games paintings and banners.

The opening ceremony of the Beach Games will be held at the Ghoghala Beach in Diu, and the closing ceremony will be held at the INS Khukhri Memorial.
