Team India entered the semifinals of the Women's Cricket of the Asian Games 2023 after their quarterfinal match against Malaysia was called off due to rain in Hangzhou, China today.
India has moved up due to their higher seeding over Malaysia.
Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, the Indian women put up a strong display and smashed 173 for 2. Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues batted superbly to help India reach the massive target.
The innings were however interrupted by rains, and the match was first reduced to 15 overs a-side.
Later, when Malaysia began their innings, the showers opened up again, and the referees called off the match.
India women's cricket team is making their Asian Games debut. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have received direct entry to the quarter-finals as they are the top-ranked Asian sides in the ICC Women T20 Rankings.
