New Update

England will resume their first innings' play at the overnight score of 84 runs for five wickets on the third day of rescheduled fifth Test against India at Edgbaston today.

The hosts were left struggling at 84 for 5 at the end of the final session last night with Jonny Bairstow 12 not out and Ben Stokes 0 standing at the crease. England are still trailing India by 332 runs.

India had an edge on the rain-truncated Day 2 of the Test match with stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah leading the attack to bring three wickets down of the hosts after a power-packed batting performance.

Earlier, a superb century by Ravindra Jadeja and late blitz by Jasprit Bumrah took India to a total of 416 on Day 2 in their first innings.

India were bundled out for 416 in 84.5 overs. Rishabh Pant with 146 and Ravindra Jadeja with 104 were the stars of India with the bat.

Bumrah also contributed with an unbeaten 31 in just 16 balls consisting four boundaries and two sixes, a majority of which came from a record 35-run over off Stuart Broad.

England versus India one-off Test is the 5th Test from last year's tour, which was postponed due to COVID-19. India leads the series 2-1.

Last year, during England's tour in August-September, India was scheduled to play five Tests against England.

However, only four Tests could take place and the 5th Test was postponed. The 1st Test ended in a draw. India defeated England in the 2nd and fourth tests while England won the third Test.
