The problem of leprosy is not just a medical question. There is a different feeling in the mind of people towards with leprosy patients which leads to social, economic, and psychological problems. In fact, it is necessary to help them in their situation.

It is important to know that leprosy is an infectious disease spread through the air by a bacteria called Micro Bacterium leprae. People generally have little or no understanding of leprosy.

Shows carelessness towards scars on the body due to not being a hindrance in daily activities which may lead to future deformities. It is the duty of all of us to be careful so that this does not happen. If any person is found to have any kind of scar on the body then they needs to take appropriate and proper steps.

A special celebration of Anti-Leprosy Day is organized by the District Leprosy Officer on 30th January in the districts, talukas, rural and regional center areas including Vadodara which has a high rate of leprosy in the state.

Gram Sabhas and awareness rallies will be organized on 30th to guide and inform the people about leprosy. Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign will be celebrated by Vadodara District Leprosy Officer from 30-01-2021 to 13-02-2021.

Importantly, in the last year 2019-20, 290 new cases of leprosy were found and treated in Vadodara district and this year at the end of December, 149 new cases of leprosy were found and treated in Vadodara district.

The Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign organized by the Vadodara Leprosy Officer provides co-operation by involving service-minded individuals and organizations.

The Vadodara district leprosy officer has requested that if leprosy is suspected, it is necessary to get it checked at the nearest government hospital. Leprosy is diagnosed and treated free of cost at government hospitals.
