It looked
like Jasprit Bumrah is going to feature for Gujarat in the Elite Group A match
against Kerala at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat beginning on Thursday
but the talks between the India and Gujarat team management weren’t failed to
reach a common ground, which led to the pacer being pulled out of the game.
As per a
reports Bumrah had reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah to ease his return into
cricket.
Although
Bumrah clarified that he had no problems whatsoever, the number of overs he
would be required to bowl in the Ranji game was a bit of a concern.
Ganguly and
Shah suggested Bumrah to concentrate on only white-ball cricket for now and
treat this period as an extended break, as they pulled him out of the Ranji
game.
Gujarat
skipper Parthiv Patel also confirmed later that the marquee pacer isn’t going to
be a part of the team against Kerala.
Furthermore,
it has been learnt that the communication between the national selection panel
and the Gujarat management was that Bumrah should only bowl 4 to 8 overs in a
single day, to which the latter side didn’t agree. For Gujarat, having a player
in the team just to bowl 4-8 overs wouldn’t be justifiable.
