In a commitment towards the environment protection, Railways is focusing on environment friendly measures like use of renewable energy which includes wind and solar energy. Indian Railways has installed about 114 MW of solar rooftop plants in over 1,000 stations and 400 service buildings and plans to be a Zero Net Carbon Emitter by 2030.

LED replacement done at Railway stations and all Railway installations & buildings (more than 20,000). All residential quarters have also been converted to LED by May 2020 on Indian Railway.

Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway stated that Western Railway has 2 stations and 3 office buildings which includes Vadodara station, Ratlam station, DRM Office Vadodara, DRM Office Ahmedabad & DRM Office Ratlam which have got Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) certification.
