Vadodara police create green corridor till Ahmedabad for the organs to transfer in special flight to Mumbai
A 17 year old girl from Halol was declared brain dead during treatment at Vadodara hospital. She was shifted in critical condition and after valiant efforts the doctors failed to save her. With parents wish, her seven organs are donated to different hospitals.
Studying in 12th Commerce at Halol, 17 years old Nandani Shah was shifted in critical condition to Savita hospital in Vadodara. Doctors tried their best to save her but no improvement was seen in her condition. Later she was declared brain dead and with her parents wish the hospital starts procedure to donate the organs.
Heart, lungs, two kidneys, two eyes and a liver of Nandani was donated after declared brain dead during treatment at Savita Hospital in Vadodara. City traffic police created a green corridor covering a distance of 6.8 km from the hospital to Harni Airport in 8 minutes for the heart and lungs are transported to Mumbai by air. kidneys, eyes and liver are also connected to Ahmedabad IKD hospital by green corridor. This is the first case in Vadodara of donating seven organs simultaneously.
Nandani, the 17-year-old eldest daughter of Nirajb Shah and Krima Shah, resides at Suncity Society on Halol-Godhra Road fell ill on the night of December 18. They immediately took her to Halol hospital and from there to Vadodara Savita hospital for further treatment. Doctors made desperate efforts to save her, but eventually doctors were forced to declare Nandani brain dead at 5pm on Wednesday.
Dr. Tarang Sharma of the administrative department of Savita Hospital said, after Nandani was declared brain dead, her parents were persuaded by the hospital’s counseling team to donate her organs. However Nandani’s parents were also willing to donate their daughter’s organs. Preparations were started by the hospital team for timely delivery of the organs to the right place after the parents were ready to donate the organs.
He further said that this morning the team from Delhi AIIMS arrived in Vadodara for Heart, and team from Fortis Hospital in Mumbai for lungs and safely removed the organs from the body. Similarly the kidneys, eyes and liver were removed by different teams and delivered to the right place in time.
Dr. Tarang Sharma said that a charter plane was arranged to send the heart to Delhi AIIMS from Harni Airport and the lungs to Mumbai Fortis Hospital. While Kidneys, Liver and Eyes are delivered to Ahmedabad IKD hospital with the help of city traffic police by creating a green corridor to ensure that there was no obstruction in the way of delivery of organs.
Vadodara city traffic police created a corridor of 6.8 km from the hospital to Harni Airport and delivered rhe heart and lungs in 8 minutes. Similarly the kidneys, eyes and liver are delivered to Ahmedabad IKD hospital from Vadodara in a matter of minutes covering 130 kilometers with the help of green corridor. In this operation, ASI Rameshbhai, ASI Vijaybhai, Head Constable Prakashbhai, Driver Rafiqbhai and Pragneshbhai joined and helped the organs delivered in time.
