SC declares historic judgment on Kaveri water dispute, no one has authority over river

While declaring the historic decision on the Kaveri water dispute today (Friday), the Supreme Court said that the right to any state is impossible on river. While hearing the case, the Supreme Court has cut water from the river Cauvery to Tamil Nadu. The court has asked Tamilnadu to provide 177.27 cusecs of water. Earlier, the Authority had sanctioned 192 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.

On the decades-old Cauvery Water dispute between Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala of South Indian states, the bench of Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice AM Khanvilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud had kept a decision safe, on the appeal filed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on September 20 last year.
