1000 NCC senior and junior cadets from various states participating in the trek

Sardar Patel Narmada Trek (SPNT), a national level

trekking camp for NCC Senior and Junior Division Cadets was flagged off by Brig

Amit, Group Commander NCC Vadodara Group on 29 Nov 2019 from Gujarat NCC

Leadership Academy, Rajpipla in Narmada district on behalf of Maj Gen Roy

Joseph, ADG, NCC Directorate, Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.

The national level trekking camp aim to promote national integration and to

inculcate the spirit and passion of adventure, preservation of forests and

environment.

The prestigious trek covering a total distance of

56 kms will be flagged off on 29 Nov, 01 Dec, 06 Dec and 08 Dec 2019 at various

stops enroute with participation of 1000 cadets from Delhi, MP, Chattisgarh,

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Goa, UP, Haryana, Himachal and

Punjab.

The aim of organizing SPNT is to promote National

Integration by gathering enthusiastic Nationalist youth from all faiths, castes

and cultural identity at a place which is towered by the Iron Man of India. The

trek will infuse these youth with the spirit and passion for adventure,

preservation of forests / environment and would motivate them to learn about

local culture and traditions of vibrant Gujarat.

During this event, the cadets will first trek from

the Base camp at NCC Academy Jeetnagar to Junaraj located 20 Kms away in the

Shoolpaneshaw Wildlife Sanctuary amidst Satpuda mountain ranges. Here the

cadets will get the actual feel of spending a night in the thick of jungle.

Cadets will further trek to Sundarpura and along the waterfront of Karjan

backwaters and around Karjan Dam where they would be exposed to power

generation and the science involved driving the young brains towards scientific

developments of country.

The trek will further be organized to visit the

renowned Statue of Unity, Cactus garden, Butterfly garden, Ekta garden and

Valley of Flowers located in Kevadia to expose cadets to the ethnic products of

local tribes, preservation of flora and fauna, importance of wild life and

methods to protect nature.

This historical and adventurous trek is conducted

every year by Gujarat NCC Directorate and selected cadets of different states

get this once in a lifetime opportunity.
