Demand to
make them permanent stay away from the work on Tuesday morning

Around 1200
sanitation workers working on contract with VMSS went on indefinite strike in
view of their demand to make them permanent. Nearly 500 of the them sit the
whole night in protest and also stay away from the work on Tuesday morning.

The Safai Kamdar Sangharsh Samiti called for agitation in view of their demand to give permanent status to the sanitation workers working with the corporation for last 15 years on contract.

Last night the leaders Mahesh Solanki, Thakor Solanki had meeting with Municipal Commissioner, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and chairman regarding their demand but nothing comes out in favour of them. They seek a immideate notification in written from the officials but they disagree and the workers continues their agitation.

1200
contract workers are on indefinite strike and that put more burden on the 2900
permanent sanitation workers working with the corporation. Mahesh Solanki from
the protesting group seek written assurance from the officials and till then
the workers will not resume work.
