Residents of Sahkar Nagar gives replica of house and key to the collector

Threaten to intensify their agitation in coming days.

Residents of Sahkar Nagar in Tandalja area of Vadodara city gives a replica of house and key to the collector as part of their memorandum to the government. They demand houses for them which was demolished by the corporation last year and threaten to intensify their agitation in coming days.

Nearly 100 odd residents of displaced Sahkar Nagar consists of women and children reached the collector office to give a unique memorandum to the collector. Demanding their houses the residents handover replica of house and key to the collector Shalini Agrawal to put their issue effectively before the government.

The unique protest caught attention of the officials and visitors at the collectorate building as the children wear house replicas on their heads and join the protest with their parents and elders of the area.

"We want to turn attention of the Prime Minister towards his vision of smart cities and aware him about the ground reality. We handover replica of house and key to the collector to press our demand and request the government to give houses to us at the earliest, " Ashfaq Malek local leader.

The residents threaten to intensify their agitation in the coming days if their demands were not resolved by the government. "Since last year we are displaced after our house were demolished by the corporation under smart city project. But till date we are yet to get our houses and waiting for the government to listen to our pleas to give our houses. We are waiting for their response or else built our houses at the spot by our own, " said Suhana Saiyed local resident.
