Demand preparation of artificial ponds and proper decision regarding the notification

Various organizations reached the Vadodara Municipal Commissioner’s office demanding preparation of artificial ponds for immersion of the statues of Dashama. They also demand the withdrawal of the notification issued by the VMC banning the immersion of idols inside lakes, ponds and canals.

Every year Dashama festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Vadodara. This year also the idols of goddess is installed at homes by devotees and after ten days will be immersed on Wednesday.

In view of Coronavirus pandemic this year Vadodara Municipal Commisioner put a ban on immersion of Dashama idols inside lakes, ponds and canals. However various organizations protest against the notification and demand roll back of the order. On Monday also they reached the VMC office and shouted slogans against the officials. They demand proper decision in this matter.

Youth Congress leader said, the notification regarding the immersion of the idols of Dashama is illegal. They demand artificial lakes be created by the corporation and devotees will immerse the Dashama idols following the Covid 19 guidelines.

Yuvajan Jagruti Manch Central Gujarat Mahila Morcha president Akshita Solanki said, the notification issued by the municipal commissioner four days before the immersion was inappropriate. The corporation is only interested in levying fines.

If a proper decision is not taken regarding the notification, they will take the Dashama idols on the day of immersion and place them near the bungalow of the Municipal Commissioner.

Yuva Sanghatan leader Jay Thakor said they came to inform the Municipal Commissioner about immersion of Dashama idols is necessary. They are ready to go to Narmada river and Somnath sea area for immersion.

Regarding the ongoing controversy over the immersion of the idols of Dashama, Municipal Commissioner Nalin Upadhyay said, “Amid the Coronavirus scare the administration is forced to make this decision to prevent the transmission of virus. He appealed people to implement the decision and immerse the idols at their homes and avoid going out.
